A tornado drill will be conducted the first Wednesday of every month at 10 am April thru October. At this time the emergency siren will  sound one long blast, then three short blasts for all clear.

Latest Announcements

The Village of Unionville Council meetings are held at 7pm the third Monday of every month in the conference room at the Village Hall. Council meeting minutes are posted at the Village office, US Post Office, Columbia Township Library, also on our web site.

 

COMING EVENTS:

The Memorial Day Parade will be held Monday, May 27, 2013 at Kemp Memorial Park. The Parade will start at 9:00 am on Granger St.

 

COLUMBIA TOWNSHIP:

Tire Recycling Program is Scheduled for Thursday, May 30, 2013

In a collaborative effort between Mosquito Abatement, local units of government and Tuscola County Recycling, Columbia Twsp. will be hosting a free tire collection on Thursday, May 30th from 9:00am to 3:30pm (or until trailer is filled, whichever comes first). This collection is being held at the Village of Unionville Hall and is limited to Tuscola County residents only (no out of county resident, no businesses, and no commercial tires). Residents are limited by state law to bringing only (7) tires per vehicle but the tires can be on a rim. Please make sure tires are clean and that they are not attached to an axel. The township will not be accepting tractor tires or any tire over 4 ft. tall as in prior years due to new charges for such items. You must be able to unload the tires yourself, so be sure to bring help. Please contact Tuscola County Recycling for additonal informatin at (989-672-1673 or email recycle@tuscolacounty.org.

SUMMER FEST is in the planning stage at this time. The plans include holding the festival in the Village park on July 13, 2013 along with the car and bike show. And ice cream social and games for the children are in the works. Anyone interested in participating should contact Judy Remar.

THE FARMERS MARKET will begin on June 14 though October 18, 2013. We are all looking forward to all the fresh veggies, baked goods and crafts the Farmers Market offers.

 

ATTENTION RESIDENTS:

SOLID WASTE COLLECTION GUIDELINES:

GENERAL REFUSE- Place bagged general refuse (rubbish) in 30 gallon plactic or metal containers with handles or in plastic bags only. Containers may not exceed 50 pounds in weight. the following are prohibited items for collection: any hazardous or liquid wastes, automobile batteries, large auto parts, yard waste, roofing, constuction or demolition material, concrete, stumps, dirt, rocks or railroad ties. For further information please contact the Village office.

PLEASE DO NOT DISPOSE OF BABY WIPES AND DISENFECTANT WIPES IN THE SANITARY SEWER. DISPOSE OF THEM IN THE TRASH PLEASE, AS THE VILLAGE IS HAVING TROUBLE WITH THE WIPES PLUGGING THE SANITARY SEWER PUMPS.
